OVERVIEW
Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, offers a spectacular trekking experience for adventure seekers. This 4-day trek takes you through lush rainforests, scenic moorlands, and dramatic ridgelines with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The route is less crowded than Kilimanjaro, rich in wildlife like giraffes, buffaloes, and colobus monkeys, and is perfect for acclimatization before a Kilimanjaro climb. Reaching the 4,566-meter summit at sunrise is an unforgettable moment—rewarding you with panoramic views over Arusha National Park and beyond.
Day 0: KILIMANJARO AIRPORT-MOSHI
– Our driver will pick you at Kilimanjaro Airport,after loading the luggage into the car you will make your way to the Hotel in Moshi town.Later you will meet with your team [GUIDE] who will do pre-trek briefing and gear check.After these,we will go through all the questions that you might have.
– Spend the night in a hotel in Moshi to rest and prepare for the trek.
Day 1: Momella Gate (1,500m) to Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
– Drive from Moshi to Momella Gate, the starting point of the trek. We will pass through Arusha National Park and you will see some beautiful animals like Buffaloes,zebra,Giraffes,Warthog,Monkeys and many more.
Begin the trek through Montane forest to reach Miriakamba Hut where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut (2,514m) to Saddle Hut (3,570m)
– Trek from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut, day two is little steep and zigzag you will pass through the heather and moorland zones.
– Enjoy the views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro along the way.
Day 3: Saddle Hut (3,570m) to Socialist Peak (4,566m) and back to Miriakamba Hut
– Wake up very early in the morning around 3am to start the summit attempt.
– Reach the summit of Socialist Peak for sunrise if weather conditions permit.
– Descend back to Miriakamba Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut (2,514m) to Momella Gate (1,500m) and transfer to Moshi
– Descend from Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate.
– Meet your driver and transfer back to Moshi
– Celebrate your successful climb with a meal and a good night’s rest in Moshi.
Moshi-Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Kilimanjaro Airport.
